Founder & Chief AI Officer, Just In Time AI

Hi, I’m Dan. I help leaders put AI to work, keep it secure and compliant, and run it on a cloud they can trust.

I have spent 30 years in enterprise technology, 14 of them at Microsoft, where for a decade I was its face across the Northeast. I co-wrote two Microsoft Press books on Azure, and I still work in it every day. Today I build AI and security products at Just In Time AI.

What I help with

Three areas, one conversation

Most technology decisions on a leader’s desk touch all three. I still do the hands-on work in each one, so the advice comes from practice.

01

AI

Put AI to work on real problems, with clear rules for what it may do alone and what a person signs off.

Where this comes from

  • Founder & Chief AI Officer of Just In Time AI, building and running AI products today.
  • Took a new AI product from first code to paying customers in about 13 weeks.
  • Wrote the AI strategy and trust rules for a portfolio of products: what AI agents may do on their own, and what needs a person’s sign-off.
02

Security & Compliance

Find the gaps before someone else does, and be ready to show customers and auditors what you have in place.

Where this comes from

  • Built JitSecure: security scans that score risk by sector, with findings mapped to CIS v8, NIST CSF and CMMC.
  • More than 100 talks and classes on security, from on-premises and Azure to physical security and social engineering.
  • Working knowledge of NIST CSF, CMMC, HIPAA, SOC and GDPR, and of written security, continuity and recovery plans.
03

Cloud & Azure

Plan, move and run your workloads on Azure with someone who co-wrote two books on architecting it, and still works in it every day.

Where this comes from

  • Co-author of Microsoft Press’s Exam Ref 70-534 (2015) and 70-535 (2018), both on architecting Microsoft Azure solutions.
  • At Microsoft, created a free Azure certification program taught by senior engineers. Most of the first seven events sold out within two hours, and it went worldwide in 2018.
  • Led Azure onboarding and migration projects for large enterprise customers.
  • Taught live classes as a guest instructor on cloud, Azure and security at NEIT, and on Azure at Harvard and MIT.

Three ways to work together

Pick the one that fits the decision in front of you. Every conversation starts with the same 20-minute call.

AI products that do real work for people whose hands are busy, security tools that show a business where it stands, and the guardrails that make the answers safe to act on.

Speaking and teaching

On stage and in the classroom

For a decade I was Microsoft’s technical evangelist for the Northeast, setting the customer and community strategy for IT leaders and engineers from New York to Maine.

I speak at events all the time. I have taught live classes as a guest instructor at the New England Institute of Technology, from Azure and cloud to security and leadership, and on Azure and technology at Harvard and MIT.

Topics and ways to work together

I have ADHD, and I call it my biggest superpower. Most of what I build is designed around it.

About me

Before Just In Time AI, I spent about 14 years at Microsoft. I co-wrote two Microsoft Press books on architecting Azure solutions, and I have written 750 to 800 technical posts over 17 years as the IT Pro Guru, many of them on Azure and the cloud.

In 2003 I founded a technology consulting and hosting company, and I still own it. Along the way I have led teams and projects at dozens of Fortune 500 companies, and I served four years in the U.S. Army with the 25th Infantry Division in Hawaii.

I was a Microsoft MVP before Microsoft hired me.

Azure architecture, security and compliance, and AI products, across 30 years in enterprise technology, 14 of them at Microsoft.
